Steel Wire Rope

A firsthand account of Pino Phosphating Solution's on-site service to customers in Malaysia

Recently, Pino Phosphating Solution completed a full 5-day trial and service at a customer's site in Malaysia. This was a steel wire production line using shot blasting technology, and a hands-on experience that the customer could "see, touch, and understand."

Pino

The shot blasting process places higher demands on phosphating.

Unlike common acid pickling preforms, shot blasting preforms have much stricter requirements for the film structure, adhesion, and uniformity of the phosphating film. Even slight mismatches can lead to uneven film formation, a grayish film color, difficulty in pulling, and limited speed – problems that customers had long struggled to completely resolve when using competing products.

Pino

It's not about "adjusting it once," but about "running the entire line smoothly."

Pino arranged for its chemical R&D engineers and the client's quality engineers to be stationed on-site for 5 days, participating in the entire production line operation process.

The system assessed the substrate condition after shot blasting, tracked the stability of each step in cleaning, phosphating, and post-treatment, and verified the key phosphating parameter ranges. Combined with on-site cycle time, multiple rounds of confirmation of drawing stability were conducted, and detailed communication with frontline operators was maintained regarding actual operational procedures.

The goal was singular: to ensure the phosphating solution was truly adapted to this production line.

Comparison of real data results

Under the same equipment and mold conditions, the effects of using Pano phosphating solution were very noticeable: Drawing speed increased by approximately 60%, the steel wire surface exhibited a stable, uniform black color, and the phosphating film was fine and dense. The drawing process was smooth. Compared to previous competing products, production efficiency and stability were significantly improved. Customer feedback at the site stated, "Not only has the speed increased, but the surface condition is also more stable."

Pino

From "seeing the results" to "understanding the principles": A clear explanation of the phosphating mechanism on-site.

During the trial, the customer showed great interest in the phosphating mechanism of the steel wire surface.

Pino's R&D engineers were on-site to explain to the customer in detail, using actual steel wire conditions, the following: The relationship between different phosphating mechanisms and substrate/process parameters; The impact of phosphating film structure on lubrication and drawing stability; How to determine whether phosphating is in its "optimal state" through routine testing. This allowed the customer to not only see the results but also understand the underlying chemical logic.

This elevated the exchange from a "product trial" to a genuine technical dialogue.

Pino

The engineer left, but the service remained online.

After completing the initial on-site technical service, Pano established a long-term technical communication mechanism with its clients.

When clients encounter any problems during production, they immediately report them in the communication group. Pano's R&D engineers respond simultaneously online, assisting in identifying the cause and providing adjustment suggestions, maintaining near-on-site level technical interaction.

Pino

When Pino went overseas, it took more than just phosphating solution with it.

We also provided systematic training to our clients' on-site personnel on: testing methods for key indicators of phosphating solutions and strategies for judging and adjusting for fluctuations in daily operating conditions; and helping clients gradually establish an executable and replicable operation and quality assessment system.

Solution Process

  • Minimal Sludge

Sludge volume is only 1/10 or less compared to conventional non-electrolytic processes, greatly reducing environmental burden.

    01
  • Superior Corrosion Resistance

Salt spray life after painting reaches 1940h+, more than 2× that of non-electrolytic processes (960h).

    02
  • No Heating Required

Reaction energy is concentrated on the workpiece surface via voltage; no tank heating needed, low energy consumption.

    03
  • No Chemical Accelerators Needed

No oxidizers or neutralizers required, eliminating non-film-forming side reactions; easier bath maintenance.

    04
  • Finer Film Layer

SEM shows finer crystal structure than conventional processes; Ni/phosphate ratio is tens of times higher, with better adhesion.

    05
  • Precise Film Thickness Control

Film thickness is controlled by adjusting current density (e.g., 5–12V, 5.2–9.4 A/dm²); wide operating window.

    06
  • Fast Film Formation

Wire-reciprocating electrolytic phosphating takes only 40–50 seconds, far faster than traditional immersion processes.
